globeandmail.com: Crash victim’s family hails licensing crackdown – Comments

You (Marc Wagner, from Toronto, Canada) wrote: I was thinking of starting my comment with how surprised I am to read the criticisms that the actions taken by Tim to date have drawn… but I’m not surprised anymore. I work for Tim and I like him a lot… so that frames my perspective. I think his proposal isn’t perfect… it’s a good step forward… and his investment into creating public awareness… flawed as it may be… has created a reaction on the topics of youth, alcohol, speeding and responsibility and perhaps to some this is irrelevant relative to other concerns… so fine… if you must vent about those things… go ahead. I guess I wish folks would add to their comments a bit more constructive criticism that could help decision makers… make better decisions. There is a great site dedicated to the tragic losses we experience on our roads http://gigababy.blogspot.com/ and is a great forum to discuss your perspective on the issues. Even if you don’t fully agree with Tim’s suggestion… you might consider signing his petition and adding a constructive comment many other have http://www.tylermulcahy.com/law-change.asp I hope the governments will look at all their statistics… ask all the pros… involve the public and improve things… without spending a fortune of course. I hope parents use his son’s experience and other examples to help protect their kids. My only other point is that assuming that the add and what you have seen so far is the only thing Tim is doing around this issue and many other issues in society would be based on incomplete information. I hope folks will keep pouring in the support and I hope the constructive criticisms continue as well. Marc Wagner

  1. Hi Marc. I liked your comments, and I would just like to say that whether anyone agrees to Tim’s approach or not, any move or movements to bring drinking and driving to the forefront deserves support. You wrote a good piece there, Marc.
